Joseph Fink moved to Arcadia
in 2005 with his wife Sheri after living in North Port Florida
for nearly 40 years. They
wanted a less hectic life; a return to the “closeness” of small town living.
A native of rural
Michigan, Joe has a B.A. in Business Management,
with a Minor in Finance and Accounting.
He has worked for the A.C. Nielson Corp., the
Sarasota and Hardee School Districts, has written extensively for
the Sun Coast Media Group as an OP-ED and editorial writer, and presently
operates an antique shop with his wife in downtown
Arcadia.
During his time in North Port,
Joe served on the City’s Charter Review, Utilities and Solid Waste Advisory
Boards. He was elected to the
City Commission and served from 1996 to 2004.
He was the primary representative of the City to the State
Legislature, severed as the City’s voting delegate to the Florida League of
Cities as well as on several policy committees, and served as the City’s
representative on several interlocal governmental boards in Sarasota County.
In 2008, the City of
Arcadia
appointed Joe to serve as Interim Administrator.
During his 3 month service, he petitioned for and received federal
stimulus monies to construct an ADA compliant sidewalk down Martin Luther King Blvd,
and petitioned Congressman Vern Buchanan’s office for infrastructure funds
to improve the City’s roads, sidewalks and utilities systems.
Joe loves his adopted city, wanting to insure that it
retains its uniqueness and small town charm, and becomes the place that
people want to live, work and raise their families.
